By now, most of you would have heard about Rent. It is a musical (which was made into a movie in 2005) which is about the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York’s Lower East Side in the thriving days of the Bohemian East Village, under the shadow of AIDS. (Wikipedia)
One of the most famous songs from that musical/movie is the song Seasons of Love.
Other than this song, which I believe is very meaningful, another part of the movie which struck me is this duet of the aj couple in the movie. I think this part was sweet, especially the lyrics.
It is sad though that at the end of the movie, the cross dresser Angel, died of AIDS.
And the next video is the eulogy for his funeral including the song sang by the boyfriend. Awww.
Quotable quotes:
There was this skinhead that was harassing her and she just walked right up to him and said, “I’m more of a man that you ever will be, and more of a woman than you’ll ever get.”
You always said how lucky we were to still be friends. But, it was us, baby. We were the lucky ones.
If you guys are interested in watching the movie (if you have not done so or you want to refresh your memory) you can watch it online here!
I hope you guys won’t emo too much anymore though. Haha. Have a good weekend!
